Archaeological Resource Protection Act - Assistance (ARPA-A)

About Me

I am a professional archaeologist with over 40 years of experience.  For the last 20+ years I have been intimately involved with Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) criminal investigations.  After retiring from federal service in 2022, I started ARPA-A as a way to continue assisting federal law enforcement with their investigations of unauthorized disturbance to archaeological sites.  Mentoring the next generation of ARPA specialists is a primary goal of ARPA-A.

Services

Providing assistance in ARPA investigations including field damage assessment, commercial value determinations, expert witness testimony, peer review, training and cultural resource management.

Recent and Current Clients

  • Boise National Forest
  • Umpqua National Forest
  • National Clark Service
  • U.S. Department of State
  • U.S. Department of Justice

Contact Me

Whether you have a question or would like to discuss my availability to assist in an investigation, I'd love to hear from you. You can contact me by email (Tim.Canaday@arpa-a.com) or phone/text (208-768-7974).

VISION ARPA-A is envisioned as an asset for federal agencies and tribes in the investigation and eventual prosecution of those who indiscriminately damage and loot archaeological sites on federal or tribal land. We do this through mentoring a new generation of fully trained ARPA specialists.
